Science Communication with the International Coral Reef Society Student and Early Career Chapter
I am working with the International Coral Reef Society (ICRS) Student and Early Career Chapter to enhance science communication through the Reefbites blog. Reefbites is a collection of short articles written for a general audience that highlight recent scientific findings, methods, and trends. With articles available in six languages, Reefbites posts aim to “facilitate education, outreach, and science communication of marine science,” consistent with the ICRS Student and Early Career Chapter’s values.

Educational Development with the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary
I worked with the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary to update educational materials that can be used in K-12 classrooms. On the sanctuary’s website, you will find lesson plans and materials. These hands-on lessons can be implemented in classes to teach core concepts (listed in the lesson plans) through coral reef ecology.
OWLS Outreach at Rice University (Spring 2023)
OWLS Outreach is a diverse group of graduate students in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology graduate program at Rice University passionate about communicating life sciences to 5th-8th grade students. Our goal is to engage students with hands-on, mentored science and also develop and make available tools that can be used by teachers to instill a passion for science in their students. I was involved with creating educational modules for future classroom visits as well as giving research talks and panels to high school students.
